Chapter 03 – Path to Magician III

Last book looks more like a journal than book.

Calamity Bringer My name is Rulety Berlich, I'm a traveling bard. Your frequenter of bars and taverns. I decided to publish my stories about a certain man that I followed in his last years of life. His last years of passionate, depraved life. His name is Guhl Dert, typical 45 years old man. It all started in a small provincial city Pulet in Almaz Kingdom. One evening I, as usual, was singing in a bar. All the same evening – drunken guards, sexy waitres... as I said, the usual evening. He came with some local girls and same as everyone started to drink. Nothing unusual. The problems started closer to midnight. Some drunken soldier decided to get one of his girls, but got his ass kicked. That too was nothing unusual. But then we heard a sound of bells, notifying us of some troubles. Ofcourse everyone in bar run outside just in time to see gate getting trashed and dozens of bandits getting inside to kill and plunder. What started then was like a living hell, but not for us but for bandits. I don't know his profession but Guhl Dert is undeniably the most powerfull magician a have ever seen. Despite it being just some basic magic, it was flying non-stop, creating chaos on battlefield. Since that day I decided to follow him..... ............... ............... ...... It was almost 3 years since our first meeting and now I'm here, on his grave, drinking alone, remembering this and that. His death was actually nothing heroic, he got some disease from some brothel girl and just died. Stupid death that is. Your's truly, Rulety Berlich

What can I say... WTF DID I JUST READ? This is almanac for debauchery and lust, on the verge of porn! Ok text, but pictures describing their "fun" times in brothels are almost everywhere. The book mostly tells about them hanging out in brothel again and again. Well as a male I actually want to be in their place, except for the last part. Good thing is, inside this game people that are 16+ can do anything that they can't in reality until 18 or 21. Developer said that it's because of this medieval setting. As many know, in old times people of ceartain age are considered adults. In GAO it's 16 years. They can marry and, ofcourse, go in brothels and any other adult places.

That was one thing that got me, the other  is...

I can understand getting rid of bandits, but what about the "dead drunk" part? This is starting to get crazy... and I like it!!! Let's forget about it for now.

First thing first, I finally met conditions for my profession.

I run like a wind to old man room. It was more than a day in game since I started to play and finally I'm going to be a magician. I knock and enter without waiting for an answer. He wasn't sleeping this time.

-"Oh, it's you. Did you read books?"
-"I did, so teach me magic already!"

He put on the table 4 wands, the only difference was color of crystal. Really, they look like in some Hollywood film. I somehow withhold the urge to shout some copyrighted words. You don't even need guess that crystals correspond with 4 basic elements. As the future uber mage my element is predetermined. I choose Novice Fire Wand.

I got better reward for 1 extra book. I wonder what would I get for 10 extra books, but it's too late for that.

Finally I will learn some magic! Pretty receptionist lady once again told me where to go. This training ground looks more like Colliseum. I asked one student, and it seems some times this place is used as fighting arena with gambling to boot. It's human nature to wish something forbidden. I found magic instructor and he is the first NPC from another race that I met. I don't know what this gnome is doing here and how can he even teach magic, but who cares if he teach me magic.

-"Hello my name is Troy, I was send here to learn magic."
-"Good to hear, good to hear. We have fewer and fewer students. Fresh blood is always welcome. My name is Loyd Rijan."

He turn his head and shouts on other students.

-"You all, go train yourself while I teach this greenhorn."

Last one was unneeded, you son of a flea. Not that I can tell it. We walk up to scarecrow. Poor old scarecrow, how classic. He raises his wand and speak "Fireball". Red ball appeared before him and flies toward scarecrow. ~Boom~ And scarecrow is undamaged. Must be eternal MMO magic that lets scarecrows to be undefeated.

-"And that's how you do it. Chant spell and picture in mind where to throw it"

Ball of fire appeared before me, I aim at poor scarecrow and mentally throw fireball at him. ~Boom~ And there's memo in log about doing 0 damage. This scarecrow is definitely a mockery.

-"Good. Now keep throwing fireball till it reach level 2"

And gnome walks away leaving us alone. My shooting target is set, ready, go...

22 spells in total and my mana is down to zero. Nothing better to do than sit and eat, because I forgot about it when I read my last book. Since it's boring to just sit, I was watching others. They were using spells corresponding with their wand crystals. I guess that my crystal was red, that flea of a teacher taught me fireball. About half an hour later my mana recovered and I unleashed barrage of fireballs. Since there wasn't any notifications I decided to look at my exp.

The later was a pleasent surprise. Though I knew about it from book. When I gained level 2, teacher came to me.

-"What, you didn't even knew that it's dean who is working you?"
-"Aside his position, he didn't even named himself!"
-"Well now you know."
-"Thank you for your work, bye!"

I ran into dean's office. This time I decided to wait for an answer.

-"I didn't?.. Oh I remembered! You woke me from reat dream, so I was a li~ttle irritated and wanted to get rid of you. So I sent you to read books. And by the way, my name is Dunigan Dank."
-"... just a minute. Are you telling me that reading books is unneeded?"
-"In short, yes, totally."

I spent 30 hours just so that you can sleep?? You old fart!! I barely holding back of firing my new great spell.

-"It as your fault to begin with. Don't come when it's holliday"
-"Then why did I was instructed to come here by receptionist lady?"
-"Must be because no one was here since it's holliday and she don't like me that much. Allways telling me not to feel her butt. How can I not to? With those round... cough cough. Where was I?"
-"In your fantasies feeling the butts."
-"COUGH COUGH...  Now I remember, I wanted to give you a profession. What kind of mage do you wanna be?"
-"Totally badass fire mage!"

My tension once again started to rise. Dean came closer and whispered in my ear.

-"If you forget what you heard just now, I'll throw you a bonus, what do you say?"
-"Deal!"

Where is the idiot who rejects free stuff?
